Seasons
Greetings from The Cozy Tea Cart,
Thanksgiving is behind us and we are all in a rush
with the next holiday. But let's not forget it too
quickly. At my home, we had the opportunity to
share Thanksgiving week with my brother and his
family from Oregon. It had been several years since
we'd seen them and it brought such joy and warmth to
have them with us. Why not take a moment and
reflect on your Thanksgiving experiences with your
family and friends?
I'm sure you're all busy during this holiday season,
and with Christmas day one week away, we all feel
the stress of having everything ready in our homes,
or perhaps it's the stress of shopping that has us
frazzled. When you feel like you can't add one more
thing to your To Do List, take a moment for
yourself, make a cup of tea and enjoy the peaceful
moment that you've stolen from your busy day. During
this 'moment' it's a perfect time to remember the
holiday traditions that are special and unique to
your family. One of our traditions on Christmas Eve
is when all our children, my husband, grandma,
grandpa, and myself sit together with a cup of tea
or hot chocolate, and watch "It's A Wonderful
Life." I can't wait!
If you are amongst those of us who live in southern
New Hampshire or northern Massachusetts, you are
probably stressed because you have been without
power for a week. A severe ice storm came into these
areas last Thursday like a fierce hurricane. It has
been one week, and there are still thousands of
people without power. We feel fortunate to have a
generator, but there are so many who are living with
no heat, electricity, or water. There are relief
shelters set up in schools, businesses and
churches. But there are still many people in their
homes living in unsafe conditions. The power
companies predict it could be after Christmas before
homes have their power restored. It's no surprise
they have declared a state of emergency for southern
NH. And the weather bureau has issued another storm
warning for this Friday, and they are predicting
snow for the next four days. This is sure to delay
the relief efforts.
Like many others, I have been taking to the road
each day to find a restaurant that has internet
access so I can continue to work. I've heard the
most unbelievable and very sad stories of people who
are struggling to stay warm. As we move forward in
our holiday plans, we ask that you take a moment to
remember what these families are going through, the
stresses they are dealing with, and hope that relief
comes to them soon.
During the holiday season, we are frequently
reminded that all good deeds should be paid forward
to someone in need. A gift of tea is a gift of
warmth. We would like to offer our sincerest
thanks to all our customers these past few
weeks. Our effort to donate 10% of our proceeds
during these weeks made it possible to support the
SHARE organization during this most difficult time
of need. The Cozy Tea Cart is grateful to all of you
for your support.
Our warmest wishes, that you are surrounded
by warmth and family during this holiday season, and
we wish you good health and peace in the New Year!
