The hectic pace of the modern world seems to drift away when one
enters a space where tranquility and kindness preside. Take a
moment to enjoy the fascinating and relaxing experience of an
authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony (noon). Stroll through the
gardens or visit throughout the day with local artists, authors,
health professionals and business professionals to learn about
the great talents our community has to offer.

Featuring Japanese Tea Ceremony
performed by Kaji Aso Studio, Boston
A Japanese tea ceremony demonstration will be presented by
Kate Finnegan and staff from Kaji Aso Studio. Japanese tea
ceremony is a beautiful aesthetic and very meditative to
watch. The garden at The Cozy Tea Cart will provide a
wonderful atmosphere for this performance.
Afterwards there will be time for a short discussion and
questions and answers.
Kate Finnegan studied Japanese tea ceremony under the
direction of Mr. Kaji Aso for 26 years from 1980 to 2006.
She traveled many times to Japan with Mr. Aso to expand
her research about tea.
Mr. Aso had various experiences of tea ceremony school in
Japan. He sought the most original and ancient form of tea
ceremony to discover the true enjoyment of tea and true
enjoyment of friendship through sharing a sip of tea. This
vision of tea provides a wide understanding of life and
nature. Mr. Aso passed away in 2006 and at his request and
with her deep gratitude.
Ms. Finnegan continues hosting tea at Kaji Aso Studio’s
tea house, “House of the Flower Wind” in Boston.

Made with Fimo clay and fired in the oven, my jewelry tries to
recapture the spirit of my paintings. I play with the clay till
I get the color scheme that I want. I place the colors on the
clay as I would use the paint on a canvas Then I cook the piece
and paint on it with acrylics. The clay pieces have all kind of
themes ranging from birds to fish and women and cat theme I
enjoy experimenting with a different medium. When the pieces are
too big to be hanging around the neck, I frame them by using
colorful and eclectic frames with hand painted, acid free paper
as a background.
