Summer Contest Winner:  Anne Gould, Bedford, NH

Summer Contest Winning Submission:

My four year old daughter, lover of all things pink and embellished with hearts and flowers, was thrilled.  "Can I invite Raccoon to the tea party?" she asked.  "Of course," I answered easily, happy that invitations were going to all creatures plastic and stuffed with cotton rather than the entire neighborhood.  We were driving home from The Cozy Tea Cart, the small black shopping bag adorned with toile tissue paper beside me, and we were each anxious to try our tea choices.  The spicy Cozy Tea Cart black tea flecked with orange was mine and Brooke chose the Gingerbread Orange herbal tea that she claimed made her think of Santa.

Once home, I waded through LEGOS, puppets, fairy costumes, and an endless supply of Polly Pockets to find the treasured tea set in its basket.  Nestled in pink gingham were the miniature pink flowered cups, saucers, napkins and a tea pot.  The table was set, the dolls in their place, and the china tea pot made for tiny hands was filled with gingerbread tea.  Taking a sip from her cup, Brooke gushed, "I just love this day!" And once again that day I was able to answer easily, "Me too."
