Nikki
Andrews works as a picture framer, but in her real life she is a
songwriter and author. She is a six-time winner of
National Novel Writing Month, and has been awarded an honorable
mention by Writers Digest for her short story "In a Shadowed
Wood."
Chicken Bones, her first novel, introduces racing champ
Marti Hansen, rock star Derek Hamilton, and hiker Zora Covell,
who team up with an enigmatic time-traveling alien to prevent a
vast wave of unnatural violence in the
universe. Can a song really save the future?
In A Windswept Star, the three humans and Zora's husband
Harry find their love, hope, and courage tested to the limit
when a renegade timeship takes its future into its own hands.
Past and present are more fluid than anyone imagines, especially
when mysterious alien gems enter the situation!
Nikki's books are available at Toadstool Books in Milford,
Barnes & Noble, from the publisher (www.Authorhouse.com)
or directly from the author at
www.nikkiandrewsbooks.com. She
is currently working on Framed, a murder mystery set in
an art gallery, and on The Edge of Possibility, the final
book in her sci-fi series.
Nikki would be delighted to talk with your school or club about
the passion and peril of writing a novel in a month or about
writing in general. You can contact her at

Kate Jacobs performed a book reading at the
Milford Knitting Club.
The Friday Night Knitting Club has been
described as “a charming and moving
novel about female friendship and the experiences that knit us
together—even when we least expect it.” The book has garnered
mentions in upcoming issues of Glamour, Redbook,
and OK ! magazine.
Here’s a recent review (from Booklist):
Georgia
Walker's entire life is wrapped up in running her knitting
store, Walker and Daughter, and caring for her 12-year-old
daughter, Dakota. With the help of Anita, a lively widow in her
seventies, Georgia starts the Friday Night Knitting Club, which
draws loyal customers and a few oddballs. Darwin Chiu, a
feminist grad student, believes knitting is downright
old-fashioned, but she's drawn to the club as her young marriage
threatens to unravel. Lucie, 42, a television producer, is about
to become a mother for the first time--without a man in her
life. Brash book editor KC finds her career has stalled
unexpectedly, while brilliant Peri works at Walker and Daughter
by day and designs handbags at night. Georgia gets her own taste
of upheaval when Dakota's father reappears, hoping for a second
chance. The yarn picks up steam as it draws to a conclusion, and
an unexpected tragedy makes it impossible to put down. Jacobs'
winning first novel is bound to have appeal among book clubs.
Kristine Huntley
Kate and her husband Jon now live in California, but previously
she was based in New York and worked at Redbook,
Working Woman and Family Life. The Friday Night
Knitting Club is her first novel.

Jared Rocco, now a high
school student, has been "tickling the ivories" since he was in
kindergarten. After 9 years of playing he has nearly worn out
the keys on his piano. Practicing is a passion, and his
parents have to drag him away to do his homework. His
jazz/rock/blues/folk piano style is influenced by some of his
favorite artists; George Winston, Professor Longhair, Oscar
Peterson, Miles Davis, James Booker, Vince Guaraldi, and bands such
as REM and the Beatles to name a few.
Jared has performed several times at the Kripalu Center for Yoga &
Health, Chocolate Springs Cafe' in Lenox, MA, a Nashua Rotary Club
Luncheon meeting, Del Rossis Trattoria, and is frequently the
featured pianist at
The Cozy Tea Cart events.
If you are interested in having Jared perform at your special
occasion, you can contact him at 603-672-8522 or
